Aviv grew up in Jerusalem. He completed the scholarship program of Tamara Mialenik’s Jerusalem Dance Studio. After his military service, he moved to New York where he received a scholarship at the American Dance School of Alvin Ailey. In New York he danced and worked with a number of choreographers and dance groups, among them Markofsky - Zokerma Dance Theatre, Daniel Gritzman Dance Company and Jonathan Appel Dance Company.
