The BUA Dance Company was founded by Ilanit Tadmor in 2002. Since then it has been working independently, researching movement, creating different performances and teaching, participating in different events, festivals and projects in Israel and around the world. BUA is the Hebrew word for "bubble". The company’s interest is in combining different worlds; different edges and the space between them. We use and explore knowledge from the theater-dance world and knowledge from outside; daily life, human behavior. We include physical and mental practices like meditation, aikido, contact improvisation, release technique, new dance technique, theater work, voice work and Ilanit’s own improvisation technique.  One of our main interests in performing is communication – between company members; between togetherness and privacy; between the desire to separate oneself and the wish to belong, between men and women, and between each one and his or her god. Above all, we are playing with the border between ourselves and the audience. Our most recent work performed is a theatre, music, movement and dance performance called "As Simple as That". In the course of our Personal Communication Project we travel to numerous
countries and let local artists participate in our performance.
Therefore our performance is influenced by artist, audience and culture,
and is constantly changing. Members of our group perform at Spain, Germany,
Russia and Taiwan, among others. |
